Are you ready to grow your garden and yourself in the process?

The Victory Garden Club was founded to share the joy of gardening. As a gardeners we grow each other as we grow ourselves.

This is where our tag line Grow Together, Grow You comes into play. While the solitude of gardening can be one of the beauties that guides us to our gardens building community around this passion can be inspiring as well.

With a passion for organic gardening and sharing a great  love of the earth, Founder Cheri Ruskus is on a mission help other women grow themselves as we grow our gardens together.

Together as Gardeners we help each other to understand cycles, patience, nurturing, and most of all kindness the earth.

Begin.

Many avid gardeners have begun the gardening journey unexpectedly by starting to grow a few things, that lead to a few more and then a few more.

It is fascinating learn about the many varieties of plants that can live in different landscapes and those that thrive within your own growing zone.

The beauty of creating a beloved garden can happen even in the smallest of garden spaces or even balconies.

To be able to share your growing passion with other gardeners allows for you to get even more daring in trying and experimenting with new skill sets in your own garden.

Victory.

The term Victory Garden first came to life during World War I when it was necessary for food supplies in the United States to be once again sustained by home gardens.

No longer did you have to live on a farm to grow food. City dwellers as well were encouraged to help the war efforts by starting and maintaining food supplies. And of course it had to be done cost effectively as money was in short supply for so many.

The pandemic of 2020 brought many people back to the garden, as those who already had one, learned to love it even more.

Gardening allows us to nurture ourselves as we nurture the earth as it can heal so many of life's worries.

Impact.

Today’s Victory Garden is a combination of veggies and flowers that bring not only joy but food for humans and other creatures.

The garden gives a sense of calm with its life force, food supply, beauty, and of course amazing fragrances.

A garden when maintained organically creates a positive ecological environment. A place for creatures such as bees, birds, and butterflies to find food and sustain the life cycle.

Every element of nature finds the way work together in harmony. There is a healing power in getting dirt under your nails and spending the time watching it all work together so magically.

Community.

Vegetables & Herbs

Food might be right up your alley and something you are interested in growing in your garden.

From annual crops that need to be replanted or reseeded, you may want to grow things like lettuce, kale, onions, carrots, beets, basil, and so much more. Or perhaps perennial herbs and foods such as oregano, chives, tarragon, strawberries, and again so much more.

Flower Garden

Flowers bring a whole new element to the garden.

Some flowers are wild annual flowers and ever seeding, others are perennial and come back at certain times each year, and others bloom all summer long.

Flowers are not only beautiful accent to any garden but also  great friends to pollinators keeping the balance of the garden.

Depending on what your goals and ambitions are in conjunction with flowers the opportunities and beauty they provide are endless.

Zen Garden

Keep it zen.

There is the aspect of creating a Zen garden for those that are looking to just find the peace of a garden with little upkeep or need for water.

Rocks have a beauty all of their own and with a little xeriscape or all by themselves they can bring a special unique beauty to your garden.

Ready to get happy in your own garden?

You just need to be open to making mistakes. As any gardener will tell you.  Be willing to learn what plants your particular garden space will produce the best as you learn and share with others who have made the mistakes as well.
